Ho Ho Ying: The Path I Pursue” （何和应：我追遂的路) is a reminiscence of Ho HoYing’s art journey over the years from the 1950s till 2020s, sharing his interesting anecdotes and the inspiration behind some of his favourite artworks.  See art through Ho’s eyes as he chronicles Singapore’s art-scene over the years. This book consists several of his artworks which have not been exhibited as well as his personal sketches and photographs. 
 
Mr Ho Ho Ying, (Chinese: 何和应) is a pioneer Singapore modern art artist who is renowned for his visionary and avant-garde approach to art.  In 2012, he received the Cultural Medallion Award, the highest award for arts practitioners, for his invaluable contribution to the Singapore arts scene. For over 60 years, Ho Ho Ying has been painting passionately, expressing freely his visions of the world aroundhim, making him one of the most established and versatile contemporary local artists.
 
Being the leading figure of Singapore’s modern art scene, Ho Ho Ying enthrals us with his novel art works- abstract art that has metamorphosed with his own distinctive identity.  His signature style is the western abstract expressionism in which Ho Ho Ying places special emphasis in the use of drips, dribble, colours, forms and strokes which has become his trademark. He also pioneered his own unique hybrid of modern Western and Chinese Creative Calligraphy in 1995 called “Ban Bian Shu” (半边书), literally half side of the world.  This innovative form of couplet writing involved a unique mix of Eastern and Western art styles that took decades to develop in which Ho Ying finds it particularly intriguing and greatly passionate about.
Biography
Ho Ho Ying, 何和应 born in China in 1935, is a well-known Singaporean artist who co-founded the Modern Art Society Singapore in 1964.  An influential art critic and ardent advocate for Singapore art, Ho Ho Ying was determined to grow in a new direction to promote abstraction right from the start.  Ho takes pride in his reinvention of his creative calligraphy and his abstract art pieces which are seen as timeless. 
 
He is also an accomplished author under his reputed moniker 子木(Zǐ Mù), and an art critic for the Singapore visual arts community.
